One child, one bed is our policy. And at present we are completely full! We don't want them to share beds and we are praying for funds to expand. As teenagers there are 4 beds per room, and for the youngsters there are 5. All the children have cuddly toys (including some of the older girls as well).
Cleanliness and hygiene is very important to us, and Jev constantly checks to keep a high standard.
The children receive 3 large meals a day and 2 snacks (morning and afternoon). We use 25kg of rice per day as it is a staple for the children. Jev insists on a balanced diet so the children get either meat, fish or chicken at least once a day (and lots of vegetables!).
We try to minimize fried food and wish we could give more fruit which is too expensive at the moment (we would love a donation for this).
Our kids are very close to both Mike and Jev. Not only do they have full run of the orphanage, but they have full run of our house too. We call all the children our children, and as such we do the best for them just like our own biological children. Mama Sayang is all about giving opportunity and most of these kids will grab it. We keep in contact with everyone that has left, and they are always welcome to return.
